True to their form, the over-paid
news weather casters were wrong about the torrents of rain that
would cancel
our barbeque meet at Alley Pond Park. Evo-NY members, both current
and new, from the tri-state area converged on the park, supplies
in hand, to kick off the first official barbeque of the summer
of 2005. New faces, new cars and new friendships came
to light this day as we all basked in the sun chowing down on
the master grill skills of Gerard (GROD101). True to his roots
as a soldier, he made sure we all had enough to eat before flanking
and overrunning the grill himself. Screw Emiril… Evo-NY’s
got DA CHEF.
Throughout the day members trickled in and joined
in on the festivities, bringing even more food, drink and activities
ranging from volleyball (Thanks Gerard (Rollaway) and Lyn (Model
LYN)) to Daniel’s (12SecEvoMR) mini-bike with the security
system. Even Penny the Pug was able to get her drink on, proving
to the world that dogs do prefer Heineken and hot dogs. Regretfully,
our webmaster Alex (Evo111), stayed sober for this event and
instead shared the wealth.
Some members brought family and loved ones to the barbeque and
it made us feel as even more of a family than just a club. Henry
(DaEvo1) came blazing in with his nephew and daughter. Even our
SQC sister crew’s Monica (IMPREZIV) and Edwin (LordEJR)
came down to show support with Moni’s daughter Anissa and
another grill to double Da Chef’s culinary powers. Z1 Auto’s
Adam and his brother Jon took the Z1 350Z and spent the day with
us after a long drive out from the tip of Long Island.

All in all the day was a great
success, in my opinion. We all got the opportunity to see each
other again, new members were added onto the roster and we
all food coma owned ourselves. The summer of 2005 for Evo-NY
has officially been started and I promise everyone, it’s
only going to get better. Keep up if you can… (^_~)
